MILLE LACS BAND OF OJIBWE ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE)

Aanjibimaadizing is completing the application process to become an Adult Basic Education (ABE) consortium for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) is a state-wide system that serves adults who are working towards a high school credential, learning English, improving basic skills such as literacy and math, and/or preparing for post-secondary education or employment.

The mission of ABE in Minnesota is to provide adults with educational opportunities to acquire and improve the literacy skills needed to become self-sufficient and to participate effectively as productive workers, family members, and citizens.

Aanjibimaadizing has a proven ability to assist their clients with the help and support services needed to address the barriers they have as well as offering personalized assistance that reflects Ojibwe traditions and values. With this project, our main goal is to increase opportunities for our clients and make it easier for clients to obtain their general equivalency diploma.

NARRATIVE

The ABE 5-year narrative is designed to give existing ABE consortia and new or reorganized applicants for ABE funding an opportunity to review and describe program results, successes, organizational structure, adherence to state/federal requirements, and future plans. Once submitted, the narrative is reviewed and evaluated in order to make decisions about new or continuing multi-year program approval for funding. The 5-year narrative process is based on requirements outlined in Minnesota State Statute 124D.52, subd. 2.

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe ABE 5-Year Narrative was written during Spring of 2023 as a new Adult Basic Education Consortium. The sections can be accessed with the links in the website menu to the left or below.
